What you want to know about our
AMTA IOWA CHAPTER CONVENTIONS?
Each Spring and Fall our chapter provides it’s members and all licensed massage therapists with current, innovative, hands on training. Attendees are assured to receive State, NCBTMB, and AMTA National approved continuing education units. We provide only top quality presenters in subjects that will enhance the skills of the therapist and improve your overall practice by better serving your clientele. The conventions are also a great opportunity to enjoy fun, friendship and networking with other massage therapists. The attendees will also enjoy great food and discounted prices on products from our vendors at convention. Due to the non-profit status of the AMTA and our ability to work with large numbers of attendees the cost of these conventions are among the lowest in market.
We provide two conventions per year. In accordance with the Iowa Chapter Standing Rules, our conventions are held on the third or fourth full weekend of March and sometime in the month of September. The conventions are held in various locations throughout the state to help accommodate all therapists across Iowa. The locations are chosen according to the ability of the area to provide adequate space needed. The locations are Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Des Moines, Dubuque and Waterloo. We are always looking for more locations and welcome you to provide input on this.
The AMTA Iowa Chapter conventions are all day Saturday and Sunday and provide attendees with twelve (12) continuing education hours (CE hours). Each convention is also host to our chapter business meetings which are held during the luncheon. During the business meeting you will hear reports from each Executive Board Member and each Committee Chair. The reports include all activities of the Board and action taken in accordance to members input. Members of the AMTA Iowa Chapter are encouraged to give input and vote on such issues. During the Spring meeting new officers are elected and during the Fall meeting delegates to National Convention for the Iowa Chapter are elected.
When attending our conventions you will be asked to bring a massage table per every two people, wear loose fitting clothing, dress in layers as room temperature is difficult to control and please all in attendance. Some presenters vary the clothing and table requirements; this is always stated in the information for that convention. All hand- outs and learning materials are provided for the attendee.
